Principal Program Manager - Sustainability & Energy Management
Genentech
Jeffrey Skacel serves as the Campus Energy Manager at Genentech, leading strategic initiatives focused on emissions reduction, energy optimization, and site resiliency to accelerate the Zero Emissions (ZE) roadmap. This pivotal role involves driving one of the pharmaceutical industry's most ambitious campus sustainability transformations by integrating sustainability across capital planning and operations.
He manages a very large utilities budget for the site. His responsibilities include overseeing the Building Energy Refresh program, identifying and implementing energy procurement hedging opportunities to deliver large operational savings, and ensuring future readiness and regulatory compliance.

Associate Director - Project Management - Corporate Engineering & Facilities
Gilead
Steven Chan is Associate Director of Project Management at Gilead Sciences, leading portfolio governance and capital project delivery at Gilead’s Foster City campus. With over 40 years of experience across biopharmaceutical, petrochemical, and energy sectors, Steven focuses on sustainable facility design, disciplined capital decision‑making, and responsible adoption of digital and AI tools in regulated environments. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
