You spend your days scaling up cultures, validating cleanrooms, and building facilities where precision is everything. This Oktoberfest, come see the original bioprocess in action: one that's been perfected for thousands of years, runs on yeast, and ends with a pint in your hand. Join us at Almanac Beer Co. in Alameda for an evening of fermentation, facilities, and friendly competition, with plenty of Oktoberfest cheer along the way.

TECHNICAL SESSION: A Talk with the Head Brewer

Almanac's head brewer, João Alameida, will share the story of how the brewery came to be and walk through the brewing process: mashing, boiling, fermentation, conditioning, and everything in between. You'll find it surprisingly familiar. There are upstream and downstream steps, a living production organism with strong opinions, and quality control that comes with a tasting panel. Whether you work at the bench, in manufacturing, or in the field building the spaces where it all happens, you'll see your world from a whole new (and much tastier) angle.

BREWERY TOURS: Behind the Tanks

Step onto the production floor for a guided look at the equipment and infrastructure that keep a working brewery running. Come see how a production facility handles the challenges you may know well: stainless steel vessels, temperature control, sanitation, and utilities designed around a product that's very much alive. Two tours will be hosted, spots are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis.

THE TASTING CHALLENGE: Name that Brew

Think you've got a discerning palate? Put it to the test. Participants will sample a lineup of mystery beers and try to identify each style, from crisp lagers to malty Märzens and beyond. Consider it a blind study with a much better control group. The sharpest palate in the room takes home bragging rights (and a prize).

So grab your colleagues and join us for an evening where science and craft beer come together!
